Nursery and Foundation Stage
(children aged 6 months to 5 years)
In the Nursery, Pre-School and Early Years Department our experienced and qualified staff provide a stimulating and exciting environment for our youngest children. We take great pride in offering high standards of care, so that parents can be confident their children are well looked after.
The atmosphere is secure and purposeful, with lots of praise and encouragement. The staff ratio allows for small groups, so that the emphasis can be on the individual child.
For four and five year olds we follow the European model, as we believe that at this age children are not ready to be pushed into formal schooling. Therefore the oldest children in our Pre-School and those of school reception age join together in their own Early Years department. Even at this age, children have the benefit of specialist teachers in Music and French.
By the end of the Foundation Stage the children have gained in self-confidence and maturity and they are ready for the more formal routine of school. At Ramillies they move into the first form of the Junior School and begin their Key Stage 1 education.
